2. Water for boiling
3. 1/2 cup brown sugar
4. 1/4 cup water
For Taro Milk Tea:
1. 1/2 cup taro powder
2. 1/2 cup hot water
3. 2 tablespoons condensed milk (adjust to taste)
4. 2 tablespoons sugar (adjust to taste)
5. 1 cup ice cubes
6. 1 cup milk (you can use regular milk or non-dairy milk like almond or soy)
7. Tapioca pearls (prepared earlier)
Instructions:
Preparing Tapioca Pearls (Boba):
1. Boil the tapioca pearls: Follow the package instructions to boil the tapioca pearls until they are soft and chewy. It usually takes about 20-30 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
2. Make a sugar syrup: In a separate saucepan, combine brown sugar and water. Heat over low heat until the sugar dissolves completely. Let it cool.
3. Rinse and coat the tapioca pearls: Drain the cooked tapioca pearls and rinse them with cold water. Transfer them to a bowl and pour the sugar syrup over them. Toss to coat the pearls evenly. Let them sit for a few minutes to absorb the flavour.
Preparing Taro Milk Tea:
1. Dissolve taro powder: In a separate cup or bowl, dissolve the taro powder in hot water. Stir until it forms a smooth paste.
2. Sweeten the taro paste: Add condensed milk and sugar to the taro paste. Adjust the sweetness to your preference.
3. Assemble the drink: In a blender, combine the taro paste, ice cubes, and milk. Blend until smooth and creamy.
4. Serve: In a tall glass, add a few tablespoons of prepared tapioca pearls (boba). Pour the taro milk tea over the pearls. You can adjust the sweetness and thickness by adding more milk or sugar if needed.
5. Add a wide straw and enjoy!
